Chinese New Year!

Chinese New Year is this Monday and the students made lanterns to celebrate!
Nice work, second grade!

Sixth Grade Collagraph Prints

Collagraphs are all about Texture!!!  The students used different materials like, cardboard, doilies, tissue paper, yarn, and more, to create these amazing prints!

Amate Bark Paintings

My brother-in-law traveled to Mexico (he is an artist and has been featured in a few museums!!!) and he brought me back an Amate tree bark painting.  I was so excited to share this with the students and explain the history of Amate paintings.  We watched a video about how the paper is made from bark and then we tore oaktag paper, sponge painted it, and used neon colors to create our own amate artwork!  I love how they turned out!

Congratulations!

A huge CONGRATULATIONS to all of the high school students who entered their work in the Scholastic Art Show!  Many of them won keys (awards they give out)--some winning several of them!  I am incredibly proud of you all!

Sixth Grade Artwork!

The kids at our school are amazingly talented!  Two sixth graders recently showed me some of the drawings that they made and I was blown away!!!  The features, shading, and detail is impressive!  Well done Mel and Samantha!

First Grade Fish!

First grade learned the WARM and COOL colors for this project!  We painted our fish and fins first, then we added some yarn.  Glitter was added last!  Very nice, first grade!

Kindergarten Cardinals!

Kindergarten used simple shapes (circles, triangles, and rectangles) to create their beautiful cardinals!
